Hi Maria,
Think the positives. You can go for away for long weekends
or whatever suits you DURING term time!!!!
Cheaper, less crowded, better sunshine (take the sfc) Just go
out on a nice day if it looks sunny and have a picnic etc.
If it rains on the day you planned you can go the next day.
Up to a point you are now FREE of the daily grind. Apart from
the money aspect what could be better if your b.p.and RA
are more settled. Do remember to still pace yourself.....
its not a miracle cure. Take care..........Anne

Hi Anne

Thanks for your comments- there certainly are a lot of positives. Money will be a little tight but I'll just have to curb my spending on things I don't really need- I am a bit of a shopaholic. However,I seem to have inherited my dad's bargain hunting obsession and am already boring my husband with my tales of what I've found in the pound shopsLOL As you say I'm free from the daily grind. Although the circumstances have been distressing I feel I've come through it and feel better for it. No more struggling in when I don't feel well. Not being able to do things I want as I won't be able to rest the next day.I'm looking forward to the nice weather so I can spend time in the garden. As you say, I can do things when I like, travel when it's cheaper.

Thanks for the reminder about still pacing myselfSmile. It is so easy for me to forget that I still have RA and it's problems, and there's a big temptation to do lots and suffer as a result! As I found out this weekend, when I went to the travel show at Earl's Court ! I am really enjoying being at home, catching up on reading, watching programmes I've recorded. All in all, I'm wondering why I didn't give up owrk earlier.

Take care

Maria x

Jane.

BigGrin hi Maria

Sometimes when we are in the thick of stress, we don't relise how much it effects us with our ra.
I'm glad that you are happy, and able to do the things that you want to like reading!
You made me chuckle with you into your pound shops - I hope you don't turn into a serial hoarder or you will be on ch4 britians serial horder (they get paid)!!Razz

You went to the nec at the weekend? What did you go to see? We go up for caravan/motorhome show October time - not easy and lots to walk around. We were going to the spring show at nec 24th February but can't because of my op.

Enjoy your shopping!
Jane

Hi Jane, If the timing is right how about hiring a wheelchair?
Again when you get over the nuisance of it you'll be surprised
how much better you feel after a long day.........Anne

Some places have scooters on hire too - we got one in Scotland once, at Armadale Castle, as the grounds were so extensive.

Hi Maria,
Good for you, enjoy your retirement, I retired early a few years ago and don't regret it for one moment.
It was the best thing I ever did.
Days out whenever I like and holidays in termtime..... brilliant.
I have lots of new hobbies now, things I never had time to do before, and loads of time to spend with the family.
Enjoy Smile Zena xx

Jane- not quite a serial hoarder yet- although the house is a bit of a mess at the moment particularly the bedroom where I have a habit of stashing everything in there until I find a home for it. I'm not quite in the same league as my dad yet. When we cleared my parents' house after mum passed away we found a large number of bags of pork scratchings-all out of dateBigGrin Still makes me smile thinking about it!

Zena- everybody I've spoken to says they don't regret retiring early. My only regret is I didn't do it sooner!!!

Maria
